The first public playtest. Eight heroes, five acts, four difficulties and a town to come home to, all drawn from your own copy of Diablo II: Resurrected.
The gates are open. This is the first build we’re putting in players’ hands: pick a hero, walk into the horde, and see how far you get before Baal.
New
Heroes
- Eight classes: Amazon, Assassin, Necromancer, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress, Druid and the Warlock, each with all three of their skill trees.
- Every level-up deals you skill cards. Reroll, skip or banish the ones you don’t want.
- Max a skill to empower it, quicken it, widen it or split it, or evolve it into the bigger skill its tree builds towards.
- Skill options: Books of Skill buy side-grades for your skills, each with its own trade-off.
The climb
- Five acts, from the Blood Moor to the Worldstone Keep, each ending in its boss: Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto, Diablo and Baal.
- Beat Baal for Nightmare, then Hell, then the Inferno tiers, each harder than the last, with no ceiling. Choose your difficulty at the waypoint.
- Quests in every act pay out the way they should: skill picks, stat points, life, resistances, gold and more.
- Champions, uniques and super uniques with their names, their powers and their loot.
Leaderboards
- Global leaderboards: log in with Discord from the main menu and your best runs post themselves.
- Race for the fastest Normal, Nightmare and Hell clears, or climb for the highest Inferno tier, all time or this week, overall or for your class.
- The same boards are live on the website.
Loot
- Diablo II’s own item drops: magic, rare, set and unique items, rolled with real affixes.
- Sockets, gems, runes and runewords. The highest runes drop only from act bosses in Hell and Inferno.
- Charms, a belt full of potions, weapon swap, and a stash with shared tabs.
Town
- A walkable town in every act, with its NPCs at their posts: buy, sell and gamble, hire a mercenary, and rank up your hero at the smith.
- Akara resets your stats and skills for gold when a build needs a fresh start.
Look and sound
- Diablo II: Resurrected’s own effects: its fire, frost and lightning, cast by your skills and lighting up the night around you.
- Its art, sounds and music throughout, from the campfire to the last boss.
- Graphics presets: Low, Medium, High and Ultra, or Auto to pick one for your PC.
The desktop app
- One Windows installer. On first launch it finds your Diablo II: Resurrected and builds the game’s art from it, on your PC. Nothing of Blizzard’s is downloaded.
- You can play after a few minutes; the later acts get ready in the background while you do.
Known issues
- The installer isn’t signed yet. If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info, then Run anyway.
- A few skills are still missing a part of their effect, such as Iron Golem’s thorns.
